Day Orbit Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Day Orbit (the "App"), developed by Jungmin Kang ("I", "me"), handles your information. In short: the App has no account and no server of its own. Your records stay on your iPhone. The only time data leaves your device is when you choose to use natural-language input, which is processed by OpenAI.

1. Information I collect

I do not collect, store or have access to your personal information. The App has no sign-up, no login and no developer-operated server.

The App contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs and no third-party tracking, and I do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

2. Information stored on your device

Everything you create in the App is stored locally on your iPhone, including:

  • Plans and time logs (title, category, start and end time, notes)
  • Daily memos, to-dos and habits
  • Photos and files you attach to records
  • Your category rules, names, colors and app settings

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read a small summary of your day from a shared container on the same device (an iOS App Group). This summary never leaves your device.

If iCloud Backup or device backups are turned on, iOS may include the App's data in your backup. Those backups are handled by Apple under your Apple Account settings and Apple's privacy policy, and I cannot access them.

3. Natural-language input (OpenAI)

When you type a sentence such as “gym at 7, then dinner with friends” and ask the App to turn it into entries, the following is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to OpenAI's API:

  • The text you typed
  • The current date, time and time zone (to understand words like “tomorrow” or “at 7”)
  • Your saved category rules (for example, that “yoga” is Life), so the result matches your preferences

This happens only when you use this feature. Your other records, photos, calendar events and memos are never sent. Like any internet service, OpenAI can see the IP address of the request. I do not receive a copy of this data.

According to OpenAI's API data policy, data sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models by default and may be retained for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse before being deleted. See https://openai.com/policies for details.

Please avoid entering sensitive personal information (such as health details or other people's personal data) into natural-language input. You can always add or edit entries manually without using this feature.

4. Permissions

The App asks for the following permissions only when you use the related feature. You can change them at any time in iPhone Settings → Day Orbit.

  • Calendars (full access): to show events from the calendars on your iPhone, including Google calendars you added, in PLAN and TODAY. The App only reads events; it does not change your calendars, copy events into its own storage, or send them anywhere.
  • Camera: to take a photo and attach it to a record or memo.
  • Photos (add only): to save a planet card image to your photo library.
  • Notifications: for the optional evening reminder. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
  • Live Activities: to show a running timer on the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen.

5. Sharing and sale of information

I do not sell, rent or share your information. Apart from the natural-language processing by OpenAI described in section 3, no information is provided to third parties.

6. Retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual records in the App, and deleting the App removes all of its data from your iPhone.

Backup files you export from the App (PLAN → menu → Data backup) are saved wherever you choose, and you are responsible for keeping or deleting them.

7. Children

The App is not directed at children under 14, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or Korea's Personal Information Protection Act), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information. Because your data is stored only on your device, you can exercise these rights directly in the App. For data processed by OpenAI, you can also contact OpenAI. 9. Changes to this policy

If I change how the App handles information, I will update this page and the date above. Significant changes will also be announced in the App's update notes.
